Statement of Faith

    God

    1. We believe in one God[1], Creator of all things[2], holy[3], infinitely perfect[4], and eternally existing[5] in a loving unity[6] of three equally divine Persons[7]: the Father[8], the Son[9] and the Holy Spirit[10]. Having limitless knowledge[11] and sovereign power[12], God has graciously purposed from eternity to redeem a people for Himself[13] and to make all things new[14] for His own glory[15].

    The Bible

    2.  We believe that God has spoken in the Scriptures[1], both Old and New Testaments[2], through the words of human authors[3]. As the verbally inspired Word of God[4], the Bible is without error in the original writings[5], the complete revelation of His will for salvation[6], and the ultimate authority by which every realm of human knowledge and endeavor should be judged[7]. Therefore, it is to be believed in all that it teaches[8], obeyed in all that it requires[9], and trusted in all that it promises[10].

    The Human Condition

    3.  We believe that God created Adam and Eve in His image[1], but they sinned when tempted by Satan[2]. In union with Adam[3], human beings are sinners by nature and by choice[4], alienated from God[5], and under His wrath[6]. Only through God’s saving work in Jesus Christ[7] can we be rescued[8], reconciled[9] and renewed[10].

    Jesus Christ

    4.  We believe that Jesus Christ[1] is God incarnate[2], fully God[3] and fully man[4], one Person in two natures[5]. Jesus—Israel's promised Messiah[6]—was conceived through the Holy Spirit[7] and born of the virgin Mary[8]. He lived a sinless life[9], was crucified under Pontius Pilate[10], arose bodily from the dead[11], ascended into heaven[12] and sits at the right hand of God[13] the Father as our High Priest[14] and Advocate[15].

    The Work of Christ

    5.  We believe that Jesus Christ, as our representative[1] and substitute[2], shed His blood on the cross[3] as the perfect, all-sufficient sacrifice[4] for our sins[5]. His atoning death[6] and victorious resurrection[7] constitute the only ground for salvation[8].

    The Holy Spirit

    6.  We believe that the Holy Spirit, in all that He does, glorifies the Lord Jesus Christ[1]. He convicts the world of its guilt[2]. He regenerates sinners[3], and in Him they are baptized[4] into union with Christ[5] and adopted as heirs[6] in the family of God[7]. He also indwells[8], illuminates[9], guides[10], equips[11] and empowers[12] believers for Christ-like living and service[13].

    The Church

    7.  We believe that the true church[1] comprises all who have been justified by God's grace through faith alone in Christ alone[2].They are united by the Holy Spirit in the body of Christ[3], of which He is the Head[4] . The true church is manifest in local churches[5], whose membership should be composed only of believers[6]. The Lord Jesus mandated two ordinances, baptism[7] and the Lord’s Supper[8], which visibly and tangibly express the gospel. Though they are not the means of salvation, when celebrated bythe church in genuine faith, these ordinances confirm and nourish the believer[9].

    Christian Living

    8.  We believe that God's justifying grace must not be separated from His sanctifying power and purpose[1]. God commands us to love Him supremely and others sacrificially[2], and to live out our faith with care for one another[3], compassion toward the poor[4] and justice for the oppressed[5].With God’s Word, the Spirit’s power, and fervent prayer in Christ’s name[6], we[7] are to combat the spiritual forces of evil[8].  In obedience to Christ’s commission, we are to  make disciples among all people[9], always bearing witness to the gospel[10] in word and deed[11].

    Christ’s Return

    9.  We believe in the personal, bodily[1] and glorious[2] return of our Lord Jesus Christ[3].  The coming of Christ, at a time known only to God[4], requires constant expectancy[5] and, as our blessed hope[6], motivates the believer to godly living, sacrificial service and energetic mission[7].

    Response and Eternal Destiny

    10.  We believe that God commands everyone everywhere[1] to believe the gospel[2] by turning to Him in repentance[3] and receiving the Lord Jesus Christ[4]. We believe that God will raise the dead bodily[5] and judge the world[6], assigning the unbeliever to condemnation and eternal conscious punishment[7] and the believer to eternal blessedness and joy with the Lord[8] in the new heaven and the new earth[9], to the praise of His glorious grace[10]. Amen.

    Creation

    11.  We believe that God chose to create all things to reveal His glory, divine nature, eternal power, infinite wisdom and supreme authority[1]; That God created the heaven and the earth, the sea and all that is in them, which was very good, in six literal 24-hour days and rested on the seventh day and that, before He created the universe, nothing except God existed [2]; that man was created directly in God’s own image and after His own likeness; that man’s creation was not by evolution or change of species or development through interminable periods of time from lower to higher forms[3]; that all animal life and vegetable life were effected by special creation, and God’s established law was that they should bring forth only “after their kind”[4].
